There's a version of this week that doesn't run you into the ground. 🤍
I want to offer you something different this week.
Not a harder week. Not a more productive week. Not a week where you optimize yourself into exhaustion and call it success.
A week that opens instead of closes. That flows instead of resists. That nourishes instead of depletes. That completes with something like grace instead of just stopping because Friday arrived.
That version of the week is available. It doesn’t require the demands to be smaller — they can be exactly as big as they are. It just requires giving the nervous system something different to respond to inside them.
Your nervous system is a responder. All week long it responds to what it’s fed. The demands, the performance, the output, the pressure — it responds to all of it faithfully. What most people never realize is that you can layer something else in alongside all of that. Small inputs, consistently given, that give the nervous system another signal to respond to. Something from the safe direction. Something that says: you can be open right now. You can flow instead of brace. You can receive something instead of only give.
That’s what this week’s stacks are.
Seven days. Four inputs each. This week’s themes move through the whole arc: open on Monday, flow on Tuesday, nourish on Wednesday, sustain on Thursday, complete on Friday, delight on Saturday, soften on Sunday.
At the end of each day’s stack you’ll find one quiet line — something to notice if it lands. You don’t have to do anything with it. Just sit with it if it does.
There’s a version of this week that doesn’t run you into the ground. These stacks are how you build it. 🤍
🌤️ MONDAY
Open Stack — an expansive beginning
The week goes better when it begins with something open rather than something braced.
🌬️ Open your arms wide — hold 30 seconds, breathe into the open chest
The physical opposite of the protective forward curl that anticipatory Monday activation produces. Your nervous system responds to open expansive posture as a signal that contraction isn’t required right now.
👁️ Soft wide gaze — eyes unfocused, take in the whole room, 90 seconds
Soft peripheral gaze activates the parasympathetic system and tells the threat-detection system there’s nothing specific to track right now.
🫁 Five slow exhales — each one a little longer than the last
A graduated building release — a different quality than five identical exhales.
✍️ Write one thing you want to stay open to this week — not achieve, stay open to
An orientation, not a demand. Leaving it visible gives the nervous system something to return to when the week tries to close it.
🤍 If holding your arms open for 30 seconds felt uncomfortable — if something in you wanted to close and cross them — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌊 TUESDAY
Flow Stack — moving with rather than against
Tuesday works better when you move with the current rather than fight it.
💃 Move slowly to one song — not fast, slow deliberate movement, 3 minutes
Not energetic discharge — slow, conscious movement. Asks the nervous system to be present with the body in motion rather than releasing through it.
💧 Run warm water over your hands for 60 seconds — let it flow over them
Continuous gentle sensory input. Warmth and flowing sensation together. An ease input with a flowing rather than static quality.
🫁 Ocean breath — slow inhale, soft exhale with a slight throat constriction, 5 rounds
A textured exhale that slows the breath naturally and gives the nervous system a gentle vagal input with a wave-like quality.
✍️ Write what you’re resisting today — then what it might feel like to flow with it instead
Two answers. Not about solutions — about exploring a different felt sense in the body.
🤍 If you couldn’t identify anything you’re resisting today — if everything felt equally accepted — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌿 WEDNESDAY
Nourish Stack — listening to what’s been asking
Midweek the body is asking for something. This stack listens.
🌡️ Warm compress on your lower back — held for 5 minutes
One of the most affected and least tended areas. Warmth here releases invisible accumulated tension and tends to produce a whole-body softening response.
📖 Read something you love out loud — 2 minutes, just to hear your own voice say beautiful words
Self-generated sound, the rhythm of loved language, and emotional resonance together. A multi-channel nourishing input.
🫁 Breathe slowly, imagine warmth spreading through your body on each exhale — 4 rounds
Breath plus warmth visualization gives the nervous system a respiratory and interoceptive input simultaneously.
✍️ Write what your body is actually asking for today — not what you think it should need
Then give it one small version of that thing today. Hearing and responding to the actual request is different from overriding it.
🤍 If writing what your body is actually asking for felt inaccessible — if you couldn’t tell what it wanted or felt it wasn’t allowed to want anything — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
💛 THURSDAY
Sustain Stack — actual fuel, not reserve
Thursday isn’t about pushing through. It’s about finding what actually sustains you.
🤲 Self-massage on your hands, wrists, and forearms — slow and deliberate, 3 minutes
Chronic tension from typing, gripping, and repetitive motion. Oxytocin response. Tension most people didn’t know they were holding.
🍊 Eat something with intense flavor — slowly, full attention, no screen
Intense flavor eaten with deliberate attention draws the nervous system out of the week’s abstraction and into the actual body.
🫁 Extended exhale — in for 4, out for 8 — 4 rounds
Despite the week being unfinished, the body is allowed to exhale fully right now.
✍️ Write one thing about your life you genuinely appreciate — specific and true
Not what you’re supposed to appreciate. What you actually do. Specificity is what makes it register as real data.
🤍 If writing one thing you genuinely appreciate felt hollow or obligatory — if the appreciation wouldn’t quite land as real — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌅 FRIDAY
Complete Stack — a real ending
The week is over. Let your body know.
📣 Say out loud: ‘It is Friday evening and the week is complete’
Spoken declaration carries completion weight that the same content held silently doesn’t. Your actual voice activates the social engagement system.
✍️ Write what the week required of you — honestly, completely, 5 minutes
Not a summary — a reckoning. What it asked, what it took, what you navigated. When the full cost is named and written, the nervous system receives a completion signal it doesn’t get from weeks that just end without being witnessed.
🫁 Five audible sighs — one for each day, each one intentional
Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Thursday. Friday. Five days, five acknowledged completions.
🌅 Watch the quality of the evening light — outside or at a window, 5 minutes
One of the oldest completion signals the nervous system has. The brightness is ending. The performance is over.
🤍 If writing what the week required produced more than you’d acknowledged even to yourself — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌼 SATURDAY
Delight Stack — a pathway the week couldn’t reach
Delight isn’t a reward for a good week. It’s a nervous system input the week couldn’t provide.
📷 Find three things today that would make a beautiful photo — actually look for them
Searching for beauty trains the nervous system’s attention toward what’s worth noticing aesthetically — a different mode than the week’s scanning.
🎈 Do one thing purely because it sounds enjoyable — no productivity attached
The inability to do this without a justification is information. Doing it anyway is practice.
📞 Reach out to someone you love just to tell them something that made you think of them
Spontaneous purely affectionate contact. Ventral vagal activation that tends to return warmth to both people.
✍️ Write one thing that genuinely delighted you today — describe it in detail
The sensory detail deepens the nervous system’s engagement with the memory, producing a second dose of the delight.
🤍 If finding one thing that genuinely delighted you today produced nothing — if the day felt too flat for delight to be accessible — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌙 SUNDAY
Soften Stack — before the next thing begins
Before the next week begins — soften what the current one left behind.
🌡️ Warm both hands around a hot drink — slow sips, full attention, 5 minutes
Warmth and deliberate slow sipping at Sunday evening specifically. The context changes what the familiar input provides.
🫁 Let out a long slow sigh — whatever sound wants to come with it, 3 times
Permission to let the exhale carry sound without shaping it. A different quality of release than a deliberate or performed sigh.
🤲 Slowly stroke from shoulder to wrist on each arm — like settling yourself, 2 minutes
Slow downward stroke. The downward direction specifically tends to produce calming rather than activation.
✍️ Write one thing you’re willing to release from this week — and one thing worth carrying forward
Two sentences. A clear orientation for what comes next rather than an open-ended trail of everything.
🤍 If finding one thing worth carrying forward felt impossible — if the week felt like it produced nothing worth keeping — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
