What your body is doing right now — and what to give it this week. 🤍
I want to ask you something before we get to the stacks.
How is your body actually doing right now?
Not how you’re doing in the way people ask at checkout. Not the fine or good or busy that we say because it’s easier. But actually — your body, right now, in this moment. Is it tired? Is it holding something? Is it braced for something that hasn’t happened yet? Is it carrying weight from last week that nobody asked about?
Your nervous system responds to what it’s given. All week. Continuously. Without breaks. It’s been faithfully performing whatever it’s been fed — demands, pressure, output, the signal to keep going — without anyone giving it much in the other direction.
That’s what this week’s stacks are for.
Not to fix anything. Not to perform wellness. Just to give the nervous system something else to respond to — something from the safe direction, the warm direction, the receiving direction — layered consistently enough that the other signals don’t have the whole stage to itself anymore.
This week moves through seven specific inputs: presence on Monday, clarity on Tuesday, recharging at midweek, connection on Thursday, deliberate release on Friday, genuine restoration on Saturday, and the practice of receiving on Sunday.
At the end of each day’s stack there’s one quiet line — something to notice if it lands. You don’t have to do anything with it. Just sit with it if it does.
Use what fits your actual week. Start wherever you are. 🤍
🌱 MONDAY
Presence Stack — here before forward
The week will pull you forward. This stack keeps you here first.
🦶 Bare feet on the floor — notice the temperature and texture, 60 seconds
Skin-to-floor contact for 60 seconds. Proprioceptive input that anchors the nervous system in the present body more directly than almost anything else.
👃 Smell something grounding — coffee, tea, a candle, anything real
Olfactory input reaches the limbic system faster than any other sense. One of the quickest routes to present-moment grounding available.
🫁 Breathe in for 4, hold for 2, out for 6 — 4 rounds
The brief hold creates a small moment of suspension that quiets mental momentum. The longer exhale activates the parasympathetic system directly.
✍️ Write one honest sentence about what today actually is
Not what it should be. What it is. Your nervous system responds better to accurate present-moment data than to the performance of how Monday should feel.
🤍 If writing one honest sentence about what today actually is felt too dangerous to say — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🔵 TUESDAY
Clarify Stack — the actual demand, separated from the noise
By Tuesday the noise is louder than the actual demands. This stack separates them.
💧 Three slow deliberate face splashes — cool water, each one complete before the next
A clear present-moment signal that cuts through what’s been building since Monday.
✋ Press palms together firmly — hold 5 seconds, release completely, 3 rounds
A contained experience of effort followed by complete letting-go. Useful when everything feels compressed and blended.
🫁 Four slow nasal breaths — in and out only through the nose, no count
Nasal-only breathing activates the parasympathetic system directly within just a few rounds.
✍️ Write the actual demand and the story around it — two separate columns
Demand on the left. The nervous system’s narrative on the right. Separation reveals proportion.
🤍 If the story column was significantly longer than the demand column — if the narrative was much bigger than the thing itself — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
⚡ WEDNESDAY
Recharge Stack — plugging back in
Midweek you don’t need to push harder. You need to plug back in.
🤗 Firm self-hug — arms around yourself, held for 30 seconds minimum
Sustained pressure tells the nervous system the environment is safe enough for contact. Thirty seconds for the oxytocin signal to register.
🎵 Hum one low slow note — sustained for the full exhale, 4 rounds
A longer vagal vibration input than a brief hum. Sustained humming draws attention fully into the present body.
☀️ Sit or stand in natural light — face toward the source, 5 minutes
Circadian activation, serotonin pathway, and temperature input simultaneously.
✍️ Write what genuinely energizes you — not what should, what actually does
Specific and named. The nervous system responds to specific energizers differently than to generic self-care categories.
🤍 If you couldn’t name a single thing that actually gives you energy — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🧡 THURSDAY
Connect Stack — what only comes from outside
By Thursday your nervous system has been largely alone with the week. This stack gives it what it can only get from outside itself.
📞 Call or voice note someone safe — 5 minutes, voice not text
The prosody of a safe human voice is a direct co-regulation input no solo tool can replicate.
🐾 Physical contact — pet, hug, or firm self-hug held for 60 seconds
A longer hold than usual. The extra duration lets the signal deepen.
😂 Watch something that reliably makes you genuinely laugh — 3 minutes
Extended irregular exhales, endorphins, and social safety signals simultaneously.
✍️ Write one thing someone gave you this week — however quietly or invisibly
The quieter and more invisible the giving, the more valuable it often is to name it.
🤍 If five minutes of voice contact with someone safe felt like too much to reach for today — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌊 FRIDAY
Release Stack — letting go deliberately
The week doesn’t leave the body automatically. You have to let it go deliberately.
✍️ Write the weight of the week — what it actually cost, 4 minutes, unfiltered
Not what happened. What it cost. When something is named and written, the nervous system receives a closure signal unspoken experience doesn’t provide.
💃 Move to one song — let the body do whatever it wants, 3 minutes
Five days of task-focused stillness. Three minutes of free movement discharges what almost nothing else can.
🫁 The longest slowest exhale you can make — 3 times, fully empty the lungs
Full-lung emptying. A completion signal at the respiratory level.
🕯️ Sit in silence — 3 minutes, no input, just the quiet after the week
After five days of continuous external input, the absence of demand is itself a signal.
🤍 If writing what the week actually cost produced more than you expected — if the weight was larger on paper than you’d admitted — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌸 SATURDAY
Restore Stack — adding back what the week spent
Restoration is different from rest. Rest stops. Restoration actually replenishes.
🛁 Warm bath, shower, or foot soak — stay longer than feels efficient, 15 minutes
The deliberate inefficiency is part of the input. Permission to exist without being productive.
🌿 Tend to something living — a plant, a garden, an animal, anything alive
Unhurried care for something that grows activates a quality of attention the week’s screens and tasks don’t access.
🍽️ Cook or prepare a meal you genuinely enjoy — full attention, no shortcuts
Senses, reward system, and agency simultaneously. Eating what you made closes the loop.
✍️ Write what you want more of in your life — not less of, more of
Abundance direction rather than deficit direction.
🤍 If writing what you want more of came up mostly empty or abstract — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
🌙 SUNDAY
Receive Stack — the posture the week almost never asked for
Before the next week begins — practice the thing the week almost never asked of you. Receiving.
🕯️ Sit in candlelight or dim light — no screens, just the light, 5 minutes
A quality of environment the week’s full brightness didn’t offer. The performance requirements of the day are over.
🎵 Put on music and do nothing else — let it land wherever it lands, 10 minutes
Active receiving. Not background music — nothing else running alongside it. A genuinely different nervous system experience.
🤲 Both hands on your heart — slow breath, eyes closed, 3 minutes
Warmth, pressure, and contact. A return to one of the most grounding inputs in the series.
✍️ Write three ways you took care of yourself this week — however quietly
Not for others. For you. Three ways you tended to yourself, however small.
🤍 If writing three ways you took care of yourself produced nothing — if you genuinely couldn’t find three — notice that. It may be worth exploring at some point.
